Linen Care guide

Each linen piece you own is already prewashed, making shrinkage unlikely if treated with care.

1. Recommended washing techniques

Launder on a gentle cycle with lukewarm or cool water (max 40°c / 100°f). Low tumble drying adds softness, while line drying ensures the best results. Skip ironing unless needed—then do it inside-out using medium heat. Excessive heat can leave permanent shine.

2. For long-lasting linen

Dry cleaning prolongs the garment’s life. While repeated washing makes linen softer, it also weakens the fibers. Balance is key—wash only when necessary.

3. Signs of natural wear

Linen’s low elasticity makes it vulnerable to friction. Regular folds or ironing in one spot causes stress on the threads. Expect normal wear, especially along seams or collar edges.

4. Why fabric rubs in places

Certain body movements and fits place pressure on linen, especially in the thigh or underarm areas. Choose relaxed fits for longer durability. Activities like biking or sitting for long periods may also speed up wear.

5. Fading fabric color

Over time, natural dyes fade through washing and light exposure. Wash darks and lights separately and avoid bleach or strong detergents. Sweat and skincare products can also impact color.

6. Understanding pilling

Pilling is part of the fabric’s lifecycle. While linen pills less than towels or wool, occasional fuzzing is normal. Gentle cycles and laundry bag use help minimize it.

7. Dealing with spots

Avoid harsh chemicals. Always test stain removers on hidden seams. White vinegar is a safe, effective alternative.
